What is First Tech Challenge?

Teams of up to 10 students are responsible for designing, building, and programming their robots to compete against other teams. In adition to the students, each team can be composed with mentors and volunteers. Competition is composed of different matches. In these matches, alliances are formed with different teams each mach. The goal of each match is to reach the highest punctuation. Each year a different goal is proposed.

The allowed robot kits are those provided by Tetrix and Matrix. The robot kit is reusable from year-to-year and is programmed using a variety of languages such as RobotC or LabView. Teams, including coaches, mentors and volunteers, are required to develop strategy and build robots based on sound engineering principles. Awards are given for the competition as for well as for community outreach, design, and other real-world accomplishments.
