A brief description of the FTC team, “Els Garrins Metàl·lics” from the University of Vic, is presented below. Students come from the studies of Degree in Mechatronics Engineering and Degree in Industrial Electronics Engineering and Automation. A bref description of the FTC team mentors is also presented.

Information about the current work of “Els Garrins Metàl·lics” can be found at his official Youtube channel, or with the hashtag #FTCUVic in twitter.

FTC Members:

Miriam Laliga Cervilla:

I am 20 years old and I am student of third year in degree in Mechatronics Engineering at University of Vic. When I was 12 years old I started to get interested in the engineering field, specifically in everything that involves robotics. I joined the First Teach Challenge (FTC) team created in the university because I’m still interested in robotics. Moreover, I think that is a good chance to learn interesting things and to improve my skills

Giorgia Magaldi

I am 22 years old and I am student of third year in the degree in Mechatronics Engineering at University of Vic. I started baccalaureate in technology because I was interested in the engineer’s world. Then, when I was in the university, I was offered to join the FTC team, and I thought that it was a really good occasion to learn new skills. That’s the reason I joined the team without thinking twice.

Anna Sanchis Correa

My name is Anna Sanchis and I am 19 years old. Currently I am studding the degree in Mechatronics Engineering. When I was 15 years old, I decided that I wanted to study Engineering. Later, during the high school, I started to participate in some things related with robotics. When the university offered me to participate in a team like this, I joined in without any doubt.

Josep Masgrau Tió

I am 23 years old and I am studding the degree in Industrial Electronics Engineering and Automation at University of Vic. I’m on the third year. Before I stated at the university, I studied a technical degree in electrical engineering, and a high technical degree in automation. Since I finished the school, I have been interested in electronics and automation, as in robotics too. I got interested in the FTC competition, because I thing that I could improve some skills like programming or constructing mechanical structures.

Carles Sala Jurado

I am 19 years old and currently I am studding my second year in the degree on Mechatronics Engineering at University of Vic. I always have been interested with engineering, which is the reason why I did the baccalaureate in technology. When the university offered me to join the FTC team, I thought that it was a really good opportunity to acquire new practical knowledge in the robotics field.

Victor Clavijo Garcia

I am 20 years old and I am a student at University of Vic. I am studding a degree in Mechatronics Engineering. I have been attracted for technology since I was young, and this is the reason why I have chosen a degree in engineering. I have heard before about First Lego League (FLL), but I wasn’t young enough to participate. At the moment that I was offered to join the FTC team, I did it without any doubt. I think this is a really good opportunity to improve some of my skills.

Marc Genevat Travesa

I am 19 years old and currently I am studding my second year on the degree of Mechatronics Engineering at University of Vic. Since I was young and I discovered the engineering, I thought that this is what I wanted to study. Particularly, I always have been interested in how technology and robotics could improve our daily life. I joined the FTC team at University of Vic for those reasons. I think that this team could be a really good opportunity to learn more about robotics.

Marina Escalera Casas.

I am 18 years old and I am studding the degree in Mechatronics Engineering at University of Vic. Currently I am in the second year. I decided that I wanted to be an engineer before high school. I like all the aspects that are related to engineering, but until this year, I have not been able to apply them to any project. I hope to acquire new practical skills and improve as engineer during my collaboration on the FTC project

Daniel Mateo Celada

My name is Daniel Mateo and I am 17 years old. Currently I am in the last year at high school, in l’IES Cirvianum at Torelló. Since I was a child, I have been interested in mechanics and robotics. When I was 13 years old, I participated in FLL, where I won two Spanish championships and participated in the world final in San Louis with the team “The Sanperencs”. I cannot participate any more at FLL because now I am too old, and I had to go a level up to FTC, where I am looking forward to learn new skills and have new experiences with 8 teammates more.

FTC Team Mentors:

Gerard Masferrer Caralt

My name is Gerard Masferrer I am 25 years old. I am graduated in Electronics and Telecommunications and I have a Master’s degree in Digital Technologies from University of Vic. Currently I am a PhD student and an Assistant Teacher at the Department of Digital Technologies from University of Vic. My research interests are focus on robotics, mechatronics and software engineering. I thought that it was a very interesting opportunity to mentor a FTC team, and to coordinate this fantastic team.   I hope to improve my coaching skills.

Esteve Gallego Jutglà

My name is Esteve Gallego and I am a PhD student at University of Vic. I’m 27 years old. Last year I was an  assistant teacher but, since early 2012 I’m enjoying a PhD scholarship founded by the University of Vic. My research interest is signal processing applied to neuroengineering. However, I’m coordinating the FTC team, which is a very good opportunity to improve my technical skills and to learn with the new challenges that will appear. I am sure that it would be a really great experience. Moreover I would like to thank the University of Vic for giving me such an opportunity.
