This retrospective single-center study evaluated clinical, pathological, and molecular predictors of recurrence and survival in 268 patients with endometrial cancer diagnosed between 2002 and 2024.
Older age, larger tumor size, and lymphovascular space invasion (LVSI) were independently associated with shorter recurrence-free survival. The combination of LVSI and tumor size ≥3 cm identified patients at particularly high risk of recurrence. Among 266 patients, 29 recurrences were observed, with LVSI, deep myometrial invasion, and stage III disease associated with distant recurrence. High histological grade was independently associated with shorter overall survival. Molecular markers showed no statistically significant associations with recurrence patterns. These findings support the integration of clinicopathological and molecular factors to improve prognostic stratification in endometrial cancer.
These awards also rewarded a research-based bachelor's thesis on cancer (ex aequo) by Katrina Gil, who was tutorized by Marta Parera and Nadia Espejo, on her thesis "Second primary malignancies in never-smoking women with non-small cell lung adenocarcinoma: a retrospective observational study at Hospital Universitari de Vic (2002-2024)".
