Garrins Metàl·lics is the UVic-UCC robotics team, with the objective of participating in national, state, and international competitions.

The team was created in 2012, and during the first four years, it competed in the First-Tech Challenge tournament. Since the 2016-2017 academic year, it has participated in Eurobot, a national and European-level tournament in which a robot capable of autonomously solving a challenge must be built.

The team is constituted annually through a selection process. This season is made up of 14 students from the Mechatronics Engineering degree and the Multimedia, Applications, and Video Games degree.

We have coach Sergi de las Muelas, a mechatronics engineer, professor of the Mechatronics Engineering degree, and a former member of the team.

TRACK RECORD AND AWARDS

Season Competition & Results
2013 2nd place at the European Robotics Festival (Tarragona) and 1st place at the FIRST Tech Challenge in Grenoble (France).
2014 1st place at the FTC Open Dutch Championship (Netherlands). Qualified for the World Championship in St. Louis (USA) and received the PTC Design Award for best design.
2015 Semifinalist at the FTC Open Dutch Championship and PTC Design Award for best industrial design (Netherlands).
2016 Semifinalist at the FTC Open Dutch Championship and PTC Design Award for best industrial design (Netherlands).
2019 1st place at Eurobot Spain (Alcalá de Henares). Qualified for the European Finals in La Roche-sur-Yon (France).
2021 1st place and Best Project Award at Eurobot Spain (Alcalá de Henares).
2022 Runner-up at Eurobot Spain and Fair Play Award. Qualified for the European Finals in La Roche-sur-Yon (France).
2023 Runner-up at Eurobot Spain. Participated in the European Finals in La Roche-sur-Yon (France) and received the Creativity Award.

WHAT WE OFFER

We provide a work environment where we can develop the knowledge and skills acquired during our university studies. Furthermore, we learn from senior team members to consolidate and enhance the theoretical and practical foundations of our degree. Recognition of Academic Credits (RAC)

Students can earn up to a maximum of 6 RAC credits (3 credits per year), provided they have completed the required number of hours.

The team has its own dedicated workspace at the Torre dels Frares Campus, equipped with facilities and tools to build competition robots, as well as for management tasks, meetings, and communication content.
