Universities and Libraries as Commons-Based Innovative Environments for learning, civic engagement and democracy
The project LibCommon aims to promote innovative learning and teaching practices in higher education by creating new partnerships with libraries as a common resource and learning center. This partnership between formal and informal education seeks to help students acquire essential skills for today’s complex society, such as civic engagement, participatory citizenship, intercultural and intergenerational skills, openness to lifelong learning, critical thinking, and digital skills.
- Promote innovative teaching and learning by positioning libraries as active educational centers.
- Enhance civic engagement and democratic participation through collaborative programs.
- Promote lifelong learning and digital competence to equip students with 21st-century skills.
- Strengthen cooperation between universities and libraries to create inclusive learning environments.
The LibCommon project involves an international consortium of partners who contribute complementary expertise and resources to achieve its objectives. The coordinator is the University of Thessaly (Greece), and the University of Lille (France) and the Regional Center for Scientific Information and Development (Hungary) are also participating.
