Improving Early Childhood Education and Care services (ECEC) for inclusion, equity, community participation and climate justice
The EDUFIRST project (Improving Early Childhood Education and Care services for inclusion, equity, community participation and climate justice) aims to support municipalities' collaborative efforts to improve their early childhood education and care (ECEC) service systems.
The initiative draws on the extensive and consolidated experience of three large European cities that are not capitals-Barcelona, Milan, and Tampere- which, together with the expertise of researchers from GRAD and GREUV in the field of research and public policy, are working to address common challenges.
These challenges relate to three fundamental aspects of ECEC services:
- Availability: ensuring equality in the provision of services, so that all families have access to early childhood education and care.
- Accessibility: identifying and overcoming barriers that hinder access to services by diverse groups, especially the most vulnerable.
- Quality: ensuring that the services provided meet high standards, addressing the needs of children and their families.
All these actions have the common goal of moving towards the achievement of the European Child Guarantee at the local level, ensuring that children have access to essential services from the earliest stages of life.
