DILECTINGS (Digital Literature Educational Competences for Teachers: Intercultural Inclusive Good-practices for Second-language learning) project part of the need to transform second language teaching through innovative methodologies that combine the potential of digital literature, intercultural inclusion, and professional development for teachers.

DILECTINGS focuses on empowering teachers to integrate digital literature into their educational practices, especially in second and foreign language learning contexts. This commitment to digital literature not only responds to students’ new cultural consumption habits, but also promotes more motivating and inclusive learning environments that are connected to the sociocultural diversity present in European classrooms.

The project understands digital literature as an educational resource capable of promoting linguistic and communicative skills, but also of developing critical thinking, creativity, and intercultural sensitivity. In this sense, DILECTINGS proposes a set of good educational practices that can be transferred and adapted to different school environments and linguistic realities.

One of the key contributions of the project is the training of teachers in the use of digital tools and methodologies for language teaching. This includes the creation of teaching materials, the selection of appropriate digital texts, and the design of activities that encourage active student participation and the connection between their personal experiences and literary content.

DILECTINGS also promotes a clearly inclusive and intercultural approach, taking into account the diversity of students’ backgrounds, languages, and cultural references. The project considers that literature—especially in digital and multimodal formats—can be a valuable tool for fostering coexistence, empathy, and mutual understanding, facilitating language acquisition within a framework of respect and appreciation for diversity.

In addition, the project includes the compilation and analysis of inspiring practices already in place in several European countries, which have proven effective in promoting language learning through digital literature. These good practices, together with the theoretical framework developed by the project team, form a solid basis for the creation of guides, educational resources, and training courses for teachers.
