As part of the European Researchers’ Night, PhD candidate Clara Masó
participated in the science outreach event Fem un Got de Ciència!, a series of engaging micro-talks held at the Sala Modernista del Casino de Vic. The event, hosted by science journalist Nati Adell, featured five researchers who presented their scientific advances in a relaxed and informal setting.
These short, interactive talks aimed to bring cutting-edge research closer to the general public, fostering dialogue between scientists and society.
In her micro-talk, titled “Heal Yourself with Your Own Skin“, she discussed the potential of advanced therapies for chronic wounds, which often fail to heal properly in elderly individuals or those with underlying health conditions. One promising approach involves implanting tiny fragments of a patient’s own skin directly into the wound to stimulate regeneration. This technique offers a simple, accessible, and cost-effective solution that could improve quality of life for many patients.
By participating in this interactive, she had the opportunity to share the impact of biomedical research in an approachable format and help make science more understandable and relevant to everyday life.
