The aim of this COIL project is to explore and contrast the perception of fourth-year UVic students of the sports psychology elecve with students from the University of Argelia

- University of Batna2. Bachelors students of Physical Education and Sports (last year). Group of 10-25 students .
Project themes and objectives
- Exploration of sports psychology in Spain/Europe and Algeria/Africa: context of action in both countries, future challenges of sports psychologist and sport psychology
- Context of the sports triangle: motivations,needs and how works.
Project goals
Students from both universities will collaborate online to achieve the following goals:
1. Identify characteristic elements of sports psychology and the role of the sports psychologist
2. To contrast the basic psychological needs in sport through the sports triangle model.
3. Develop intercultural collaboration and digital communication skills.
4. To promote critical thinking and empathy in the face of different sports and cultural realities
Activities:
ACTIVITY 1: WORK PROPOSAL
- Before session 1. Teaching preparation
- Review the base material and designate the UVic-Ub2 mixed groups (of 3-5 people).
- Share with students the digital platforms that will be used:
- Drive: Collaborative, open and transparent work tool, which will allow the collection of the individual evidence of learning of each student, for its evaluation. It will also allow them to collect the evidence of the debate of the group work, necessary for the session in which they will have to design the final production of its digital walls.
- Zoom: Shared Virtual Classroom Space.
- It is advisable to hold a brief introductory session on each campus to contextualize the topic before the joint meeting.
- Share the text they will be working on and that they will have to have read before the session.
- Track the drive throughout the COIL activity to ensure individual milestones.
Basic English will be used as a bridge language + support with:
1. Mobile translators
2. Keywords Typed
3. Gestures / Schematics / Drawings

SESSION 1. INTRODUCTION AND CONTEXTUALIZATION (55 MIN)
- Modality: synchronous
- Structure:
1) Welcome and presentation of the COIL project. (5 min)
2) Contextualization (15 min)
This session will have a power point presentation in Catalan and Arabic to present the topics that will be worked on:
– An introduction to the concept of sports psychology, the role of the psychologist and the context on them work.
– The sports triangle model will be presented (Smith & Smoll, 2016; Cruz, 2000): motivations, needs and how work the coach with theres athletes.
– At the end of the session, a short greeting video will be recorded for the international group by both teachers.
SESSION 2. WORK IN SMALL INTERNATIONAL GROUPS (UVic + UB2) (60 min)
Analysis of a Brief Primary Source:
– Identify concepts: sports psychology, role of the sport psychologist and the context on them work.
Guided discussion in plenary session.
Exposition from 2-3 groups
SESSION 3. SHARING AND WRAP-UP (60 min)
- Modality: synchronous
- Structure:
To contrast the basic psychological needs in sports triangle model.
Guided discussion in plenary session.
3. Guided final debate (10 min):
What has surprised you the most about this experience?
What do you take away as a personal learning?
How would you apply what you have learned in your academic or sporting future?
4. Closing and brief evaluation (5 minuts).
EVALUATION
Apart from the results of the group work, it will be necessary to collect individual and collective indicators of each student.
a. Individual assessment (up to 5 points)
1. Prior to the COIL meeting. The student must demonstrate that the analysis of the reading responds to the questions of a reflective nature and that they want to promote critical thinking.
2. After the presentation of the final products of the COIL session, in which the student must make a self-reflection on their social, historical and emotional impressions, on the topic worked on, and what their learning has been.
- Question in the exam of the subject/seminar of each of the universities.
b. Evaluation of group work (up to 5 points)
1. The indicators that are produced as a result of the collective debate will be defined.
2. The indicators to evaluate created by each group will be defined
