Sandra Ezquerra takes part in the colloquium “Utopia, transformation, resistance and claudication”.

The sociologist and director of the UNESCO Chair Women, Development and Cultures at UVic-UCC, and coordinator of the research group Societies, Policies and Inclusive Communities (SoPCI) Sandra Ezquerra, participated in the colloquium “Utopia, transformation, resistance and claudication: Is there an alternative model of society in today’s social movements?”, organized by the Ateneu Barcelonès and Espacio Público.

The event, which took place on Thursday, November 30 at the Ateneo, addressed issues such as the role of utopias in the political practice of the left or how to combat the loss of hope and the demobilization of mass social movements, among others. During the colloquium there was also a debate on the effect that the climate emergency, the economic crisis and patriarchy have on social movements and on the disaffection suffered by part of the population.

Participating in the event were María Eugenia Rodríguez Palop, MEP and professor at the Carlos III University, and Ivan Miró, sociologist and cooperative member of La Ciutat Invisible. It was moderated by Xavier Giró, journalist and professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. It can be re-watched through the Ateneu Barcelonès YouTube channel.
