Presentation
The UNESCO Chair Women, Development and Cultures, shared with the ADHUC Center of the University of Barcelona, was created in January 2004. Since then, the Chair focuses on conducting gender, development, feminist economies and cultural diversity studies. Its main mission is to contribute and promote, from both the academical and applied knowledge, the necessary equity for the construction of more fair and plural societies. It is within this framework that the main lines of action of the Chair are:
- Participation at the Interuniversity Master’s Degree on Women, Gender and Citizenship Studies and at the Interuniversity PhD Program on Gender, Culture, Society and Policy Studies
- Participation at the Interuniversity Master’s Degree on Social Policy and Community Action
- Participation at the UAB Master’s Degree on Gender and Comunication
- Direction of the UVic-UCC Master’s Degree on Equality and Development (in collaboration with Cooperació)
- Promotion of undergraduate and postgraduate studies related to gender and equality public policy.
- Promotion of interdisciplinary training activities on gender studies and awareness raising such as seminars, conferences, conferences, exhibits…
- Development of research and knowledge transfer projects, as well as research stays in other cultural realities, in the area of gender justice and interculturality.
- Production and dissemination of feminist theories and gender studies through scientific and informative publications.
- Collaboration with other public and private university institutions, as well as governmental and non-governmental organizations, in projects related to gender, feminism and interculturality
