Judit Manuel i Martin is a researcher at the Chair of Agroecology and Food Systems for Social Transformation at University of Vic-Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC). She has a background in philosophy and anthropology and she specialized in agroecology and food systems through her master and doctoral studies. Her research focus is the sustainability of small farms, as key agents in a global transition to fairer food systems, from the theoretical perspective of ecofeminism and peasant economics. Particularly, she has studied Mediterranean olive oil production and extensive livestock farming, examining issues such as by-product valorization, small farm viability, work organization and well-being. She combines her work as a researcher with a consultancy job in the field of environmental studies, climate change adaptation and participatory processes.
