On November 29th, Júlia Piqué received from La Fundació La Farga the award “Vicenç Fisas i Comella”, instituted to support excellent thesis degree project.

With this award, the La Farga Foundation wants to promote: knowledge applied to social development, creativity as a basis for innovation and progress, and awareness for the care and sustainability of the environment.

Júlia Piqué’s Biotechnology degree project title (original language Catalan) “Estudi pilot d’anàlisi per proteòmica de la composició del plasma ric en plaquetes de pacients amb ferides cròniques” was focused on analysing the proteic profile of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) of patients with chronic wounds treated with this biologic therapy.

This award degree thesis is the first stage of the biggest project led by Ph.D. Marta Otero titled: “Observational study: correlation between the composition and the in vitro functionality of the autologous platelet rich plasma with the healing evolution of chronic wounds treated with this therapy” that is focused on better understanding the mechanisms of action of this therapy for promoting personalized treatments for chronic cutaneous wounds.
