• HOW TIMELY (the acronym stands for “Handling Our Wor(l)ds in Translation: Intersemiotic strategies for Minority and Endangered Languages’ promotion among Youngers”) is an Erasmus+ project led by Roma Tre University and addressing the challenge of the decline in the usage of Minoritized and Endangered Languages (MEL) among young people, particularly within secondary education. It also tackles their underrepresentation in media accessible to teenagers. The project proposes an innovative pedagogical approach based on Audiovisual Accessibility & Translation (AVAT) techniques, such as subtitling, revoicing (voice-over and dubbing), and audio description, as a tool for teaching and revitalizing MEL. For more information on the project’s goals and activities, as well as on the partners involved, please check the project’s website at https://howtimely.uniroma3.it.

Two of the main outputs of HOW TIMELY are a training portal for MEL teachers interested in learning AVAT modalities and their didactic applications on the one hand, and a repository of classroom activities based on AVAT and adaptable to different languages and contexts on the other. Free registration to the Ubiqua platform will allow you to access these resources (available mid 2026):
