SPRING network, together with the Faculty of Business and Communication (UVic-UCC) and the research group TRACTE (Audiovisual Translation, Communication and Territory), launches a series of webinars dedicated to sport, politics and communication.
The first session, titled “The battle for the petrodollars: Qatar and Saudi Arabia,” will take place on Wednesday, March 8th at 6 pm. The keynote speaker will be Danyel Reiche, visiting professor at Georgetown University in Qatar. This will be followed by a roundtable discussion with renowned experts in the field internationally: Xavier Ginesta, professor at UVic-UCC; Jim O’Brien, visiting professor at UVic-UCC; Russell Holden, founder of In the Zone Sports Consultancy; and Nazrin Wilkinson, investigative journalist, The debate will be moderated by Maria Jose Carvalho from the Universidade do Porto.
The webinars will take place once a month, between March and June, in virtual format. Other topics that will be addressed in the upcoming sessions include new trends in sports journalism, cricket in the sports industry, and sports in European cinema.
