Metabolism
The metabolism research line focuses on investigating the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying a range of metabolic disorders, from diabetes to osteoporosis. It also explores how different factors and molecular mechanisms contribute to disease onset, progression, and overall metabolic dysfunction.
Oncology
The translational oncology research line is focused on breast cancer detection and on understanding the tumor microenvironment and the complex interactions that shape cancer development and progression. The group also employs an in vivo model (the chorioallantoic membrane, CAM, assay) that enables the study of breast cancer and provides a versatile platform for collaborative research on other cancer types as well.
Neurobiology
The neurobiology research line focuses on investigating the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying a range of neurological disorders, from mental health conditions to neurodegenerative diseases. It examines how environmental factors influence disease development and progression, with the aim of improving clinical understanding and guiding more effective therapeutic strategies.
