Research in metabolism at the FCTE was represented at the 11th MetNet Meeting, held at the Centre for Catalan Studies in Barcelona. Professors Susanna Bodoy and Alba Casellas, researchers at the Faculty of Science and Technology in Egineering (FCTE), represented UVic-UCC at the 11th Annual International MetNet Meeting (#MetNet), an international forum for research groups working on metabolism, signaling, and molecular processes related to health.

The researchers presented their latest advances on the regulation of the vitamin D receptor (VDR), a key factor involved in multiple cellular and metabolic processes. Their participation included both a scientific poster with recent results and an oral presentation, where they outlined the main directions of the project and the conclusions obtained so far.

The experience was particularly enriching. The researchers highlighted the exchange of ideas with other research groups, the opportunity to compare methodologies and hypotheses, and the quality of the feedback received from the attending scientific community. This type of rigorous and constructive feedback helps strengthen the project’s strong points and identify new research avenues that may become essential in future stages.

The presence of these researchers at this international conference reaffirms FCTE’s commitment to high-level research, knowledge transfer, and active participation in global scientific networks. As Bodoy and Casellas noted, “research advances when we share it, when we generate debate, and when we are able to view our results from new perspectives.”

With this participation in MetNet, the project continues to consolidate and progress with an open, critical, and collaborative approach.
