UVic-UCC Garrins Metàl·lics Robotics Team Competes in Eurobot Spain 2024

The UVic-UCC Garrins Metàl·lics robotics team is traveling to Alcalá de Henares this week to participate in the Eurobot Spain 2024 tournament on April 12 and 13. The competition brings together teams from Spain and the winners will have right to access the European final from May 8 to 11 in La Roche-sur-Yon (France). Eurobot is a robotics tournament at European level where teams have to build a robot to solve, completely autonomously, a challenge placed on a 2x3m table.

The challenge of the 2024 edition is called Farming Mars and the robots must figuratively grow and replant plants to survive on the planet Mars. The team is made up of Isaac Acevedo, Paola Viedma, Pau Llimargas, Narcís Gonzàlez, Pau Gardela, Jordi Sánchez and Pau Tort. The members of the team are students of the degree in Mechatronic Engineering, except for Pau Tort who studies Multimedia. Applications and Video Games. The coach of the team is Sergi de las Muelas, Mechatronic engineer, current professor of the Degree in Mechatronic Engineering and former member of the Garrins Metàl·lics team. In addition, Isaac Acevedo also acts as team captain.

In this edition, the team is accompanied by a group of 1st year students of the Degree in Mechatronic Engineering who have provided support with the design and construction of additional robots that collaborate with the main robot. The support group is called Garrins Metall·lics B and is made up of Nicolás Alcaraz, Oriol Arbonies, Jan Martínez, Guillem de las Muelas, Dídac Fernández and Daniel Picazo.
