Barcelona, 27 November 2012. – Catalonia will host six tournaments of the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) in the course of January and February at the University of Girona, the University of Lleida, University of Rovira i Virgili, University School of the Salesians of Sarrià (2 tournaments) and the University of Vic. Sponsored by the Foundation Scientia, these robotics competitions are focused for young people from 10 to 16 years, who will design, build and program robots made of Lego bricks. Also children from 6 to 9 years will participate in the Junior FIRST LEGO League (Jr.FLL) for this great challenge international established to promote values such as creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship and the team spirit through an interest in science and technology. In Catalonia, over 160 teams and 1,300 young people develop during four intense months a scientific project to find innovative solutions for seniors. Apart of defending their project, teams must pass tests and exciting trial with its programmable robots built with LEGO, based on real difficulties of our seniors.
