After being champions in the First Tech Challenge (FTC) Open Dutch Championship held in Eindhoven (The Netherlands) on March 29th, the robotics team Garrins Metàl·lics from UVic-UCC has achieved the necessary funding to compete in the FTC world Championship world final that it will take place from 23th until 26th of April in St . Louis (USA). This competition is a global celebration of Robotic and is hold annually in the capital of the state of Missouri. 400 teams will compete in different categories Jr.FLL, FLL, FTC and FRC. The following companies have collaborated in the funding to allow the team to move to the U.S.: SOME, Girbau, Elausa, Casa Tarradellas, ESMEVA Valldoreix, Frigorífics Ferrer, ISERN, GAUFIX, GURBTEC Telecom, Comercial Gassó, Mecànica CAPE, Construcciones y Mantenimiento CAPMAR, Oxilaser Valenzuela, Top Cable, Tipicat, ANDORobots, Cacaolat and Coca-Cola. Yesterday, April 23th, the team went on the register in front of the judges of the competition and reached the certification that they can compete. Today and tomorrow they will do some qualifying rounds and on Saturday April 26th, it will be held the semifinals and finals of the competition. All the teams have been divided into two groups called divisions. The team Garrins Metàl·lics has got the Franklin division with the team number 8361. In the First Tech Challenge (FTC) they compete more than 125 teams, mainly from the U.S., but also from Australia, Mexico, Netherlands, Germany, Canada, Romania, New Zealand, India, South Cora, China, Taiwan, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Catalonia. It should be mentioned that the team Garrins Metàl·lics is the only one from the south of Europe.
