Technical Workshop: “Innovative solutions for detection, control and removal of Biofilms”

Data and Place: 27 february (Auditori IRTA-CENTA-Monells), 28 february (Torre dels Frares. Universitat de Vic)

The presence of biofilms in industry is the major cause of contamination of the final product. Biofilms are clusters of microorganisms attached to surfaces that produce extracellular polymeric substances (SPE), protecting them from adverse environmental conditions. The SPE confer resistance to microorganisms and form a barrier against conventional cleaning and disinfection procedures, which hinders the removal of biofilm.
This conference aims to expand on the problems that may lead to the presence of biofilms in the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry offering the chance to discover the latest innovations in this area.
