Pau Parés Montanyà, former student of the Polytechnic School has won the Award of the Catalan Institute of Agrarian Studies 2014 for the work: Study of the production and quality of the forage pastures of the farm Cingles de lAvenc (Tavertet) 2011. This work corresponds to the Final Grade Project that the student presented and defended in September 2013 within the Agricultural Technical Engineering Studies and which was directed by Prof. Dra. Carme Casas.

Pau_Pares_Premi_ICEA-2014This award is part of the LXXXIII Poster prizes and scholarships of Sant Jordi’s Awards of the Institute of Catalan Studies. This Institution has delivered Sant Jordi Awards since 1914 to honor people and institutions that contribute to the scientific research carried out in Catalonia . The awards ceremony was held on April 22th at the Sala Prat de la Riba IEC of the Institute of Catalan Studies.

This paper presents the results obtained during 2011 and analyzes the results obtained during the three years of the study ( 2009-2011 ) that took place at the farm of dels cingles de l’Avenc de Tavertet joint ownership of Abey-Parris and Catalunya Caixa. The work had the objective of determining the productive capacity of pastures and the stocking that can support in order to be compatible with the conservation of biodiversity and habitats in this area. This project has been realized from the Research Group on Biodiversity , Ecology and Environmental Technology ( BETA ) at the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia  in collaboration with the group of naturalists of Osona-ICHN
