Mar Calvet-Nogués is a PhD Student in the Programme in Local Development and International Cooperation at the INGENIO CSIC-UPV research centre. She also collaborates as a pre-doctoral researcher on the Innovative models for sustainable future of Mediterranean pastoral systems (PASTINNOVA) project. She has a degree in veterinary medicine from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), with specialised studies in organic agriculture and livestock farming and development cooperation. Her research experience is based on studying traditional knowledge in extensive livestock systems for adaptation to climate change from a gender perspective. She has also worked on critically analysing the impacts of the globalised industrial agri-food system and the alternatives proposed by agroecology and food sovereignty movements for agrifood systems’ transition. She is currently exploring how public agricultural and rural development policies approach extensive livestock farming from a feminist perspective as part of her doctoral thesis.
