The University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (UVic – UCC) is a young and very dynamic university in Central Catalonia, with a special commitment to quality education, innovative research and internationalization. The Aquatic Ecology Group of UVic-UCC is formed by a young team of researchers and has recently been granted a Horizon 2020 grant of €6.9 million to lead the project PONDERFUL. The consortium is composed by 18 partners from nine European states and from Turkey and Uruguay. PONDERFUL aims are to increase understanding of the ways in which ponds, as a nature-based solution, can help society to mitigate and adapt to climate change, protect biodiversity and deliver ecosystem services. PONDERFUL project starts in December 2020 and last for 4 years.

We are looking to hire a proactive and dynamic person willing to be part of our project, as a project manager of PONDERFUL.

The selected candidate will be in charge of the administrative and economic-financial management of the project. The candidate will support the team of researchers in order to ensure the correct implementation of the project and to meet with the deadlines and formats. The candidate will also be responsible for the final justification of the project.

Specifically, the candidate will deal with, among others, the following tasks, with support of the Technical Office of Research and Transfer of Knowledge (OTRI):

  • Communication with the project officer at the European Commission, communication with partners, preparation and payment procedure of the partners, management amendments of the consortium and Grant Agreement, etc.
  • Planning and monitoring the execution of expenditure and change management (management of the budget, feasibility analysis and budget redefinition if necessary, support in amendments, adjustments and response to requirements, etc).
  • Preparation of financial reports and internal audits
  • Scheduling and monitoring the delivery of scientific-technical, economic justifications and audits.
  • Control and monitoring milestones and deliverables completion
  • Organization of consortium meetings (agenda, contact with partners, minutes, logistics, etc) and support to dissemination activities.
  • Support Coordinator in all Project scientific reporting requirements (collecting, editing and uploading of project deliverables and preparation of periodic reports to EC)

Requirements:

  • Minimum experience of 2 years in preparation and management of competitive projects of international scope
  • Experience in the management of coordinated projects
  • Knowledge of economic management and preparation of budgets
  • C1 level of Catalan or be in a position to obtain the accreditation
  • B2 level of English or be in a position to obtain the accreditation

We will value:

  • University degree Biosciences and Environmental Technologies or similar
  • Master’s or Postgraduate in project management
  • Specific experience in cooperation programs funded by the European Union (e.g. ENPI-CBC-MED)
  • Specific experience in project management financed under the Horizon 2020 framework
  • Experience in management of competitive projects at the Catalan and Spanish level
  • Knowledge of other languages
  • Communicative and teamwork skills
  • Results orientation
