Last week Katterin Rincón-Palau presented the first results of her doctoral research within the framework of the PONDERFUL project at the 2nd Colombian Meeting of Limnology in Santa Marta, Colombia. Her talk was focused on showing the main drivers of zooplankton diversity and size structure in Mediterranean ponds.

The results of their research indicate that size-based approaches are more related to trophic status, conservation status and the presence of fish than the taxonomic approach in Mediterranean ponds. Therefore, in turn, it frames the importance of evaluating different approaches to a community such as the taxonomic approach and the size-based approach.
