Clara Masó, a member of the TR2Lab, presented two oral communications at the XIV  National Symposium on Pressure Ulcers and Chronic Wounds (GNEAUPP), celebrated in Burgos, Spain on 24-26 may, 2023.

The title of the first oral communication given by Clara Masó was “Application of hyper ozonated fatty acids in patients with vascular problems in the lower extremities”(1). In her talk, she explained that hyperozonated fatty acids have 300% more active oxygen than the hyperoxygenated fatty acids, thus constituting an effective preventive measure in vascular ulcers, and if not avoided, delay their appearance.

Abzolem® is a solution of hyperozonated fatty acids (AGHOZ) with phytosterols and plant extracts with action at the level of renewal and conservation of the hydrolipidic layer of the skin, as well as cell turnover and improvement of microcirculation in fragile skin or skin subjected to aggressions, as is the case of patients with vascular problems in the lower extremities. Our aim was to describe the effect of a solution of hyperozonated fatty acids (AGHOZ) in skin care in patients with vascular disease in the lower extremities.

The second oral communication was “Application of hydrocolloid fiber in the treatment of punch skin grafting” (2). In her talk, she explained that in hard-to-heal wounds we must seek advanced therapies to reduce healing times. Punch skin grafting is an alternative to conventional treatments that, in addition, have the benefit of reducing pain. Nowadays, after performing the technique, a dressing made of calcic alginate fibers is generally applied to the receiving area. The appearance of a non-adherent hydrocolloid fiber, with cohesive gelling and with better capacity for absorption and retention of exudate, thus raises the possibility of verifying how the results will be with this new product, since a priori these characteristics provide a better control of the exudate.
