The research group TRACTE, in collaboration with the Faculty of Business and Communication at UVic-UCC and the SPRING Network, is excited to announce a series of webinars dedicated to exploring the intersection of sports, politics, and communication.

The first session, titled “The battle for the petrodollars: Qatar and Saudi Arabia,” will be held on Wednesday, March 8th at 6 pm. Danyel Reiche, professor at Georgetown University in Qatar, will deliver the keynote speech, followed by a roundtable discussion with internationally renowned experts in the field: Xavier Ginesta, professor at UVic-UCC; Jim O’Brien, visiting professor at UVic-UCC; Russell Holden, founder of In the Zone Sports Consultancy; and Nazrin Wilkinson, investigative journalist. Maria Jose Carvalho from the Universidade do Porto will moderate the debate.

The webinars will take place once a month, between March and June, in a virtual format. In the upcoming sessions, we’ll address topics such as new trends in sports journalism, cricket in the sports industry, and sports in European cinema.
