Metallicadour is technological center, installed in Assat near Safran, and other companies that manufacture components for Airbus. The session had the aim of articulating a technology transfer agenda, to present the vibration-assisted ball burnishing technology to the technological center in order to facilitate its transfer to real manufacturing environments, by enabling the robotisation of the process.

The meeting was motivated because of the very positive results delivered by the vibration-assisted ball burnishing on steel, titanium, Udimet ® and other alloys. Past experimental campaigns allowed to detect a triple effect on the materials surface, regarding topology reduction, residual hardness and residual stress increase, which can lead to a final fatigue life improvement of components thus treated. The transferring activities started in this meeting shall go on during the next year.
