The Mecamat research group at the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC) has recently welcomed PhD student Lisa Bruzzon for a six-month research stay. Bruzzone, who is pursuing her doctoral studies in the field of archaeometry, will focus on investigating the use of cobalt-based minerals and their treatment in ancient glazes.

Her research aims to shed light on the composition and technological practices behind historical galzed ceramics, with a particular emphasis on the role cobalt compounds played in blue coloration and material properties. By working alongside Mecamat’s team of experts, Lisa Bruzzone hopes to deepen the understanding of ancient technologies through advanced analytical techniques.

This collaboration highlights UVic-UCC’s ongoing commitment to interdisciplinary research and international academic exchange.

We congratulate her of this collaboration and look forward to the valuable insights her research will bring.
