Mecamat research group has successfully installed fissurometers to track the movement of cracks within Cardona Castle Church. Engineered by Mecamat, these devices monitor crack movement, measuring in microns every 15 minutes alongside environmental variables like temperature and humidity. This proactive measure showcases Mecamat’s commitment to merging cutting-edge technology with heritage conservation, ensuring the longevity of Cardona Castle’s architectural legacy. By strategically placing these instruments at critical points throughout the church, researchers aim to meticulously monitor any shifts or expansions in the fissures, thereby enabling timely intervention and preservation efforts.
This monitoring initiative is commissioned by the Architectural Heritage Service of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya, highlighting the collaborative effort towards safeguarding Catalonia’s cultural treasures with Mecamat Research Group.
