The MECAMAT research group at UVic-UCC has formalized a sponsorship agreement with UTRON AutoSport for the 2025/26 season. This collaboration reinforces MECAMAT’s commitment to knowledge transfer, technological innovation, and the promotion of emerging talent in the field of engineering.
UTRON AutoSport is the university’s Formula Student team, a multidisciplinary project in which students design, develop, and build a single-seater race car. Beyond the technical challenge, the initiative offers a highly valuable learning experience, allowing students to apply their engineering knowledge, project management skills, and teamwork abilities in a competitive environment.
Through this financial contribution, MECAMAT will support the development of the team’s new car and help strengthen its technical capabilities. The sponsorship comes at a key moment, as UTRON AutoSport prepares for its debut at Formula Student Spain next August—an important milestone in the team’s continued growth within the university competition landscape.
At MECAMAT, this partnership is seen as an opportunity to further connect research and practical application, fostering collaboration between academia and high-impact technological projects. Supporting UTRON AutoSport means investing in innovation, comprehensive student development, and the future of engineering.
With this agreement, MECAMAT continues to expand its positive impact beyond research activities, actively contributing to the development of future professionals and to projects driven by ambition, rigor, and international outlook.
