From May 9th to 11th, Dr. Judit Molera carried out a synchrotron experiment at the ALBA Synchrotron, located in Cerdanyola del Vallès, as part of a collaborative research project. The work was conducted at the XALOC beamline (BL13) with the support of Dr. Judit Juanhuix from the ALBA scientific staff.
The experiment focused on the identification of nano- and micro-crystalline compounds in historical and replicated lustre ceramics, aiming to better understand both the materials and the processing parameters involved. This research falls under project number 2024098586.
High-quality X-ray diffraction (XRD) images were successfully collected, which are expected to play a key role in advancing Ruth Sadurní’s PhD thesis. These results mark a significant step forward in the study of ancient ceramic technologies using state-of-the-art scientific methods.
