On Friday, December 20, 2024, Hadi Bakhshan, a promising doctoral candidate, successfully defended his thesis titled “Numerical Modeling of Manufacturing Processes Using Advanced Particle Finite Element Methods.” This achievement marks a significant milestone in the field of computational mechanics and manufacturing process modeling.
The thesis was defended within the framework of the Doctoral Program in Experimental Sciences and Technology at the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC). The defense took place before a distinguished panel of experts in computational mechanics, including Professor Michele Chiumenti (UPC), Professor Jean-Philippe Ponthot (ULiège), and Professor Julio Martí (UVic-UCC). These renowned academics praised the scientific rigor and consistency of Bakhshan’s work, highlighting its potential to advance research and practical applications in engineering.
Bakhshan’s thesis, supervised by Professors Josep Maria Carbonell (UVic-UCC) and Eugenio Oñate (UPC), focuses on developing constitutive models to better understand and predict the forces generated in thermo-mechanical cutting processes. His research also explores the formation of microstructures in manufactured materials, offering tools to improve the accuracy of force predictions and the overall quality of final products.
During the defense, Bakhshan impressed the panel with his clarity, detailed explanations, and confident responses to their questions. The event showcased the culmination of years of dedication and groundbreaking research.
Congratulations to Dr. Hadi Bakhshan on this outstanding achievement, which contributes to the advancement of computational mechanics and manufacturing sciences!
