Dr. Nuri Cuadrado Lafoz has joined the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC) as a faculty member and researcher within the MECAMAT Research Group – Mechatronics and Applied Modelling for Materials Technology. Her incorporation strengthens the group’s expertise in materials science, tribology, and micromechanical behaviour, key areas in the study and technological application of advanced materials.

Dr. Cuadrado holds a degree in Physics from the University of Barcelona (UB) and an Engineering degree in Materials Science and Technology from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). She also earned her PhD in Materials Science and Engineering at UPC, building a solid foundation in both scientific and technological research.

Her professional career began as a predoctoral FI researcher at ETSEIB (UPC). She then joined the CTM Technology Centre Foundation and later EURECAT – Technology Centre of Catalonia, where she became Head of the Research Line in Tribology and Micromechanical Behaviour. In parallel, she was an associate lecturer at the Barcelona East School of Engineering (EEBE-UPC), in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.

Throughout her career, Dr. Cuadrado has taken part in numerous technology transfer projects at regional, national, and European levels, working with multidisciplinary teams. Her doctoral thesis, “Micromechanical characterization of small volumes by means of nanoindentation,” laid the groundwork for her current research interests. To date, she has published 29 articles in leading scientific journals and presented her work at 15 national and international conferences.
