The MECAMAT member Mainardo Gaudenzi Asinelli will benefit from a 2 years Marie Sklodowska-Curie COFUND fellowship within the TECNIOspring Plus programme established by the Generalitat de Catalunya through ACCIÓ. Dr Gaudenzi Asinelli will carry the project ‘BioACHs – Biodegradation Assessment for Cultural Heritage surfaces and substrates’ at the BETA Technological Centre in strict collaboration with the MECAMAT.
The BioACHs project focuses on the development of a free and open source hardware device for non-invasive analysis and monitoring of biofilms affecting cultural heritage. Based on the principle of sustainability, the device will integrate technology to allow thermal, spectrophotometric and acoustic analyses. It is expected that this metanalytical device will help cultural heritage scientists to better understand and monitoring biodegradation mechanisms.
This fellowship will strengthen the cooperation between MECAMAT research group and BETA Technological Centre. During the first year Dr Gaudenzi Asinelli will be hosted by the Italian Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR).
