Diletta Paghi has begun her Erasmus+ traineeship on October 1st, which will run until December 31st. During this period, she is conducting an archaeometric study focused on tin-glazed ceramics produced in Spain and Italy between the 10th and 16th centuries. This research, part of her Erasmus+ Learning Agreement for Student Mobility for Traineeships, delves into the production techniques, materials, and cultural exchanges behind these historical ceramics.
Her work involves selecting ceramic samples from Spanish archaeological sites (10th-14th centuries) for analysis via optical microscopy and SEM-EDS. The findings will be compared with those from Italian tin-glazed ceramics of the same era. Additionally, she will create replicas of the glazes and pigments used in both regions, analyzed through SEM-EDS, XRD, and microscopy.
Diletta is expected to gain valuable skills in historical production techniques, evaluating technological changes in ceramics over centuries, producing experimental replicas, and mastering SEM-EDS and XRD analysis.
