On February 3, 2021 the Science and Technology Faculty of UVIC-UCC organized a practical seminar on Collaborative Robotics taught by Universal Robots and Itsme-Elektres for students of the Degrees in Mechatronics Engineering and Automotive Engineering at UVic-UCC. Previously, the same seminar was given to professionals and companies in the automation sector.
Collaborative robots, called Cobots, can do shared tasks with human workers by freeing them from monotonous and repetitive tasks and focusing on the more complex ones, unlike traditional robots which are faster and accept more load but they operate only within ones of protective fences.
The Cobots, in the near future, will play a very important role in small and medium-sized enterprises thanks to the increase in safety and productivity in industrial processes.
