pdf program

The program of the master is divided into 3 compulsory blocks: Omics (39 ECTS), Applications (6 ECTS) and Final Master Project (15 ECTS) as described in the figure below. See below the details of each block.

OMICS (39 ECTS)

BIONFORMATICS (8 ECTS)
Course: Programming and database management for Bioinformatics
Course: Statistical and data mining methods for omics data analysis

Course: Linux & MySQL

GENOMICS (7 ECTS)
Course: Genome Bioinformatics
Course: Analysis of Complex Disease Association Studies.

TRANSCRIPTOMICS (7 ECTS)
Course: Transcriptomics: Analysis of Microarray gene expression data
Course: Next Generation Sequencing analysis

EPIGENOMICS (5 ECTS)

Course: Epigenomics

PROTEOMICS (5 ECTS)
Course: Proteomics
Course: Metabolomics

INTERACTOMICS (7 ECTS)
Course: Interactomics, Systems Biology
Course: Integrative Genomics

APPLICATIONS (6 ECTS)

Course: Python programming

Course: Machine learning methods

Course: Scientific communication

Conferences: A wide range of applications will be covered mainly by external collaborators from research centers and companies

  • Nutrigenomics
  • Neurogenomics
  • Pharmacogenomics
  • Genomics and animal breeding
  • Genomics and Aging
  • Genomics and Food science
  • Biodiversity

An emphasis will be given to applications that require the integration of different kind of omic data and biological knowledge (INTEGROMICS).

FINAL MASTER PROJECT (15 ECTS)

The Final project can have a professional or a research orientation.

For the professional oriented project the student will stay 3-4 months in a company where he/she will participate in a project performing focused and specialized activities related to the master content.

For the research oriented project the student will perform a research project within a research group in a research center or university.

All projects will have an internal supervisor, will conclude in a written Master thesis and will be exposed to an specialized committee.

See the list of centres and companies for doing the FMP
