Laia Briones Buixassa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), a Master’s degree in Neuroscience from UAB, a Master’s degree in Clinical and Health Psychology from the Institut Superior d’Estudis Psicològics (ISEP), and a PhD in Health, Wellbeing and Quality of Life from the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC).

She is a full-time Assistant Professor and researcher at UVic-UCC, where she coordinates the PCBE Research Line on Clinical and Health Psychology, Cognition, Wellbeing and Spirituality.

Her research career has focused on health psychology and the psychosocial factors influencing health outcomes, contributing to projects such as PsychoMSS, SENSHealth, and ODMIMS. She is currently involved in several national and international projects aimed at improving quality of life, social wellbeing, and reducing loneliness through innovative models of social prescribing and nature-based interventions. Her work includes participatory co-creation processes to identify and activate community natural resources, particularly within the RECETAS (Horizon 2020) and CRONISOL (Health Innovation and Innovation Strategy Fellowship) projects.

Her main research interests include Health Psychology, One Health, Nature-Based Interventions for Health, social prescribing, and the promotion of mental health and emotional wellbeing, with a particular focus on young adults and adolescents, including suicide prevention and non-suicidal self-injury.
She has participated in numerous nationally and internationally funded research projects, presented her work at scientific conferences, and supervised doctoral researchers and undergraduate and postgraduate students.
