InterHEd receives the Global Gallery Award
May 16, 2024. — InterHEd receives the Global Gallery Award
InterHEd has been awarded the second prize at the Global Gallery Award 2024 organized by TU Dortmund University and delivered by the Vice President of TU Dortmund University for International Affairs Prof. Dr Tessa Flatten, who congratulated all our team at TU Dortmund University, including Prof. Dr Liudvika Leišytė, Sude Pekşen, Finn Wieschermann and Maxim Motragh. Each year, the Global Gallery initiative awards international projects dealing with contemporary sociocultural and global issues.
After a poster exhibition and a “Gallery Walk”, guests can meet representatives of the submitted initiatives and learn in-depth the aims and the approach of the project. Later, guests are asked to choose their three favourites and winners are awarded a monetary prize of €1,500 each. This year the awards went to:
- The “Tandem Teaching Project: Afghanistan and the Arts” an initiative by the Academy in Exile (AiE), a teaching project by exiled academics for students in Afghanistan
- Our project, dealing with intersectionality in higher education from an intersectional perspective
- The project “Smart Urban Areas (SUA) – Sustainable System Solutions for Urban Development” which delves into sustainable urban design in Vietnam and is funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV).
In addition, guests and project teams at the Global Gallery used the occasion to send a clear signal in favour of a Europe defined by open borders, democracy and solidarity. Thus, TU Dortmund University joined the spray-painting event as part of the Ruhr Regional Association’s (RVR) European campaign. With chalk paint in bright colours, staff from the International Office sprayed the campaign motto “Let’s Europe” on the square in front of the International Meeting Center (IBZ). Through various events, activities and social media formats, the campaign informs about the connections between the EU and the Ruhr Metropolis and shows citizens where they can discover EU interventions in their everyday lives. In this way, the RVR wants to raise awareness of the importance of the European elections and motivate people in the region to work toward a peaceful and democratic Europe.
