Transnational Partners Meeting (TPM)

The Consortium had the pleasure of meeting in person at the headquarters of our coordinator partner, the Center for Interdisciplinary Gender Studies (CEIG) at the University of Vic-Universitat Central de Catalunya, in the city of Vic.

Throughout this first day, we got to know each partner better thanks to an icebreaker activity where we all shared our teaching and learning experiences on intersectionality, from how our own cultural and linguistic experiences shaped our teaching/learning environments to how cultural diversity, age and social class defined those of our students. We also covered more administrative but practical tasks, such as reviewing the Communication and the Management Plans and discussing an evaluation proposal for the entire project. We attended the presentation Steps towards intersectionality by Dr Mar Binimelis-Adell, Director of the Equality Unity at UVic, who explored previous intersectional work on university policy while emphasizing the importance of strategically building on it to fill the gaps on how to apply intersectionality in the classroom by ultimately proposing practical adaptable tools to tackle them in the first place.

Our last day consisted of some reminders of the agreements we had reached regarding the project’s calendar and its planification and some communication updates on the pending tasks and duties of the person in charge of communication in each team. We also used this time to collectively reflect and discuss the research criteria we all will be using to gather national Promising Practices of existing and past projects that deal with inequalities from a single or diverse discrimination axes(s) such as defining key research keywords, commenting on potential pedagogy journals and networks, and defining the disciplines each partner will be researching on.

On a more informal note, during our MLIT & TPM sessions, we had the opportunity to go for a guided tour around Vic city centre where we discovered the Roman and Medieval past of the city while enjoying the art exhibition inside of the Roman temple in Vic, shared some dinners, and spend some time at Pilarín Bayés library, a tribute to the local homonymous Catalan illustrator and the place where we’ve had our coffee breaks.
