The GRAC research group, emerging group recognized by the Generalitat of Catalonia (2017 SGR 00093), was set up  to share research in the areas of translation and language teaching, linguistic analysis, semiotics and teaching with ICT’s. Research focuses on teaching-learning processes and the social dimension of communication.

There are four main lines of research:

  • Teaching and learning additional languages
  • Intercultural translation and communication
  • Teaching and learning in a digital environment
  • Linguistics and semiotics

GRAC research is directed particularly towards social growth and interaction:

  • The concepts of teaching and learning as basic tools for social development.
  • Communication processes in ones own language and culture and their relationship with other languages and cultures.
  • Learning and teaching strategies in additional languages, resources for training translators and the use of ICT’s in a communicative intracultural and intercultural environments.
  • The use of information technology and communication in face-to-face and virtual teaching to generate social and collaborative environments. Shared management of information and available resources favouring interaction and communication and stimulating affective and emotional factors related to the learning process.
