We are seeking a highly motivated and talented pre-doctoral researcher for a full-time, 3-year PhD position (January 2025 – December 2027) within the PRISTIN research project (MINECO).

Project Overview: The PRISTIN project (started in September 2023, with a 4-year duration) focuses on evaluating the effects of chemical pollution (pesticides and other organic hazardous compounds) on pond biodiversity—encompassing phytoplankton, macrophytes, zooplankton, macroinvertebrates, amphibians, and fish. Additionally, the project will explore how pollutants affect ecosystem functions and services. A key objective is to investigate how climate change may modify these interactions, particularly across different climate zones and land-use contexts.

What We Offer:

  • A stimulating and dynamic research environment within the Aquatic Ecology Group at the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC), in collaboration with international partners: HES-SO (Switzerland), KU-Leuven (Belgium), IGB (Germany), and UAarhus (Denmark).
  • Opportunities to engage closely with a diverse team of researchers, including PhD students, postdocs, and undergraduates, promoting both personal and professional development.
  • Access to state-of-the-art research facilities, along with numerous opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, mentorship, and informal teaching.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., ecology, limnology, environmental chemistry, biostatisticcs).
  • Strong interest in data analysis and numerical modeling—these will form a substantial part of the research.
  • Proven academic excellence and a solid foundation in ecological or environmental science.
  • Highly motivated to pursue a PhD, with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.

Join Us: If you are excited about advancing research at the interface of ecology, environmental chemistry, and climate change, and you possess the required expertise and motivation, we encourage you to apply. Please send your CV, including your Grade Point Average (GPA) to Dr. Mireia Bartrons (mireia.bartrons@uvic.cat).
