M365 Copilot is the service that Microsoft offers to the education sector and that the Universitat de Vic – Universitat Central de Catalunya makes available to students and staff through the Enrollment for Education Solutions (EES) agreements.

It includes the latest version of Microsoft’s productivity suite, both in the cloud and for installation on computers and mobile devices, and it incorporates Copilot, an artificial intelligence assistant that allows you to generate texts, summaries, presentations, data, and ideas directly within the M365 Copilot applications.

In addition to the classic tools —Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote— the suite includes:

  • Outlook (email and calendar)
  • OneDrive (cloud storage)
  • Teams (collaboration and online meetings)
  • Forms, Planner, Stream, Sway, Whiteboard, Delve, among others

And now also:

  • Copilot in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams, which allows you to:
    • Draft documents and emails.
    • Create summaries and outlines.
    • Generate presentations from text.
    • Analyze and visualize data.
    • Automate collaboration tasks.

Microsoft continuously adds new applications and Copilot improvements.

Microsoft keeps incorporating new services into its product suite. Therefore, you may see additional tools appear while your service is active.

The storage allocation is automatic, following these criteria:

  • Faculty and PTGAS staff: 50GB in OneDrive and 25GB in Exchange email.
  • Students: 20GB in OneDrive and 15GB in Exchange email.
  • Alumni members: 10GB in Exchange email.

UVic-UCC automatically activates the M365 Copilot cloud license for:

  • students,
  • contracted technical, management and administrative staff (PTGAS),
  • contracted teaching and research staff (PDI).

If you have this service active, you can access it in two ways:

  • From the icon that you will find in the “General Services” section on the homepage of the Virtual Campus.
  • By going directly to https://portal.office.com

To log in, select the “UVic-UCC” account type and use your Virtual Campus login credentials:

  • Username: name.user@uvic.cat or name.user@umedicina.cat
  • Password: Virtual Campus access password

With the active license you can install M365 Copilot on up to 5 computers (PC or Mac) and download the apps on 5 additional phones or tablets.

Available platforms:

  • Windows 10 or higher
  • MacOS (current versions compatible with Intel or Apple Silicon processors)
  • Android (from version 6.0)
  • iOS/iPadOS (current versions)
  1. Access the M365 Copilot portal from your computer.
  2. Go to the applications section. Click on the option that you will find on the homepage. An installable file will automatically download to your computer. Run it.
  3. Allow the application to make changes on your device. The installation will then begin. You must remain connected to the internet during this process.
  4. Once the installation is finished, open Office, sign in with your UVic account (name.user@uvic.cat or name.user@umedicina.cat) and you will be able to use it.

Remember that you must connect your computer to the internet at least once every 30 days to renew the license.

To install the applications on mobile phones or tablets, go to your device’s app store and download the apps you need.

The Microsoft 365 with Copilot license remains active while:

  • You are enrolled as a student at UVic-UCC.
  • You are part of the staff as PTGAS or PDI.

When you leave the university community, the license is deactivated and you lose access to both the applications and Copilot. We recommend that you save your OneDrive files beforehand.
