Changes in agri-food systems, promoting the mechanization of the field, and the commercialization and globalization of the productive and financial system, are the main causes of major ecosystemic impacts (e.g. decreased biodiversity, pollution, depletion of resources). They also cause the destruction of livelihoods and cultures associated with local traditional, sustainable practices in the management of resources.
Women, as an invisible subject, are the main victims of this global crisis, despite having a fundamental role in the preservation of natural ecosystems.
Faced with this scenario, the recovery of traditional knowledge and practices related to the management of agroecosystems and the different activities along with the agri-food system (i.e. production, conservation, elaboration of food and transformation), as well as the preservation of biodiversity, are actions to grasp when planting an agro-ecological transition.
