Research groups

Glossa – Research Group in Applied Linguistics, Didactics, and Literature is a Consolidated Research Group (2021 SGR 00813) that brings together researchers from various faculties of the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC). The group conducts research and knowledge transfer in areas focused on human linguistic capacity and its interrelation with literature and culture. Glossa is structured into four research lines: 1) Applied Linguistics and Interculturality 2) Literature and Cultural Studies 3) Culture, Well-being, and Languages in Early Childhood Education 4) Teaching and Learning of Translation and Languages with Digital Support
Members of Glossa lead and collaborate on local, national, and international projects and teach undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral courses in education and translation studies at UVic-UCC. Glossa builds links between research and educational practice in applied linguistics, language and literature didactics, and cultural heritage, covering all educational stages, contexts, and formats.
GETLIHC – The Consolidated Research Group (2021 SGR 399) Gender Studies Group: Translation, Literature, History, and Communication (GETLIHC) at the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia was established in 1999. Since its inception, various projects have been promoted with the aim of researching and disseminating gender studies in the university context, focusing on the fields of translation, literature, history, and communication. The group has received funding from the European Commission, the “la Caixa” Foundation, the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, AGAUR, UVic-UCC, the Catalan Institute for Women, the Barcelona Provincial Council, regional councils, municipalities, and other institutions. The research team has made the results of its individual and collective research visible through various publications and in national and international conferences.


TRACTE – The Consolidated Research Group (SGR 2021 814 GRC) TRACTE (Audiovisual Translation, Communication, and Territory) at the University of Vic was founded in 2011 as an evolution of the GRAVT (Audiovisual and Textual Research Group), which was established in 1999. From its inception, TRACTE has maintained a clear interdisciplinary approach with the aim of promoting research on translation, communication, and audiovisual accessibility.
Group members have presented their individual and collective research findings in national and international publications, as well as at national and international conferences.
The group is structured into three research lines, developed through interdisciplinary joint projects:

3. Communication and Diversity
Càtedra Verdaguer d’Estudis Literaris – The Verdaguer Chair of Literary Studies (CVEL) is a research center focused on contemporary literature, as well as its dissemination and promotion. Its mission is to study and stimulate interest in literature in general, with a particular focus on Catalan literature. All forms of literary expression and all genres fall within the Chair’s scope of action. Naturally, it has a special dedication to Jacint Verdaguer and all literature from the Osona region, which includes notable figures such as Segimon Serrallonga, Miquel Martí i Pol, Emili Teixidor, and M. Àngels Anglada.
