The cloze question type is very powerful, with a wide range of configurations. In the past, this question has been a little tricky to use because of the lack of a built-in visual editor. The Moodle syntax for the gaps and scores is not user-friendly. Previously, users have relied on external online cloze editors such as this one:

The new standard ATTO text editor for Moodle has a growing range of plugins. One of the recent ones is a cloze editor for embedded answer question types. As the Moodle Docs plugin web page states, “This is a Moodle (2.7 to 3.1) contributed (third party) additional plugin, written by Daniel Thies, for easily making Embedded Answers (Cloze) question type inside the standard Moodle Atto text editor.”

At UVic-UCC this plugin is now active and we can use it to easily create our own cloze quiz questions. Watch this short demonstration.
