New Edited Volume on FC Barcelona! Available Now!

We are delighted to announce that our study ‘FC Barcelona: History. Politics and Identity’ will be officially published by Routledge on Monday, April 1st, although it is already for sale in some bookshops and online at www.routledge.com

The edited volume brings together some thirty global experts on FC Barcelona to present the first detailed academic study of the club in English. It covers many aspects of one of the most famous football and sporting institutions and brands in the world. From the club’s folkloric foundation at the end of the nineteenth century, to an evaluation of presidentialism and a comparative analysis of FC Barcelona as a local, national, international and global sporting phenomenon. The sixteen chapters of the study engage in debates around the historic and contemporary identities of the club, especially around its assertions to being ‘Mes que un club’.

Our book will appeal not only to the global fanbase of FC Barcelona, but also to wider football and sports audiences, and to those who are fascinated by the city of Barcelona and the region of Catalonia. It draws on a wealth of sources in English, Spanish and Catalan.
