The pilot study follows a longitudinal, prospective, and uncontrolled design and will be conducted in leading hospitals in Catalonia. Between 20 and 30 individuals with ABI are expected to participate. They will receive 12 FIVR sessions (30 minutes each) over 4 weeks. Pre- and post-intervention assessments will be conducted to measure improvements in unilateral spatial neglect using validated tools such as the Catherine Bergego Scale, the Behavioural Inattention Test, and the KINESIX light test.

FIVR enables the design of personalized, progressively challenging exercises targeting motor and spatial skills, and it also serves as an assessment tool for extrapersonal space. Its potential to promote autonomy and facilitate the transfer of skills to real-life contexts makes it a promising strategy to enhance equity in rehabilitation, particularly in resource-limited settings.
The project is being conducted in collaboration with the Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron, the Consorci Hospitalari de Vic, and includes the participation of the KINESIX VR development team. It is led by a multidisciplinary team with extensive experience in neurological rehabilitation. The REVINE research team is composed of Josan Merchán (PI), Susana Rodríguez (co-PI), Sandra Rierola, Marc Terradas, Mirari Ochandorena and Rosa Terré.
