Re-Construir Juntes (re-building together) is a project designed to evaluate the impact of a community-based occupational therapy program. It focuses on meaningful occupations and community reconnection for adults who, due to acquired disability or illness, no longer find satisfaction in their daily lives. The initiative aligns with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) definition of health, emphasizing “complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”.
Participants engage in activities that promote occupational self-reflection—identifying which activities bring them satisfaction, those they’ve abandoned, and those they might pursue in the future. Through this process, shared challenges are identified, and participants work together to develop collective projects, activities, or initiatives that inspire purpose, meaning, and health within their community.

The project assesses the benefits of this intervention by measuring pre- and post-intervention outcomes, including quality of life, perceived health, emotional well-being, social and emotional loneliness, occupational balance, and engagement in meaningful activities.

The Team is composed by Montserrat Gabaldà – Occupational Therapist at ‘De Bat a Bat (Miceli), Lourdes Tuneu – Physician at CAP Centelles (EBA Centelles), Sara Esteve – Nurse at CAP Hostalets de Balenyà (EBA Centelles) and Josan Merchán (PI) – Occupational Therapist and PDI at FCSB (UVic-UCC)

This phase of the study is supported by the IMPACTE call from AGAUR (Agència de Gestió d’Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca) and collaborates with EBA Centelles (CAP Centelles, CAP Sant Martí de Centelles, and CAP Hostalets de Balenyà) in co-designing, recruiting participants, coordinating with the community health sector, and co-funding the initiative.
